A 7-month-old baby became the mayor of the city. And it’s not a joke

In the US, in the small town of Whitehall, a seven-month-old baby was elected mayor. He has already passed the inauguration ceremony and melted the hearts of his constituents. How did it happen?

William Charles “Charlie” McMillian is not yet a year old. But he has already managed to become the youngest mayor in the history of America. The kid was sworn in as mayor of Whitehall, Texas. At the ceremony, the boy arrived in a black tuxedo in the company of his adoptive parents.

Under the motto “Make America good again,” the mayor of “Charlie” proudly stood, or rather sat in the arms of the pope, behind the stands. The new mayor was met with a standing ovation by all those present in the hall.

If you’re wondering how the little one got his job, it’s all thanks to the city’s fundraising tradition. According to the local TV channel KBTX, every year the post of mayor is put up for auction. All proceeds from the sale of the post go to charity.

“This year, Charlie, or rather his parents Chad and Nancy McMillian, made the biggest bet, thereby “electing” their son as the youngest head of the city in the States,” the message says.

Josh Fultz, a council member from the nearby Texas city of Navasota, spoke about the ceremony to Newsweek.

Everyone wanted to hug him and walk with him. This love that hovered in the air was very strong. We are in a difficult period in the history of our country. Mayor Charlie helps bring peace and kindness back to society. This is the whole purpose.

The kid took the oath in a ceremony that looked much like a regular inauguration, only on a smaller scale. Of course, his parents were responsible for the baby, as if the baby had yet to learn how to talk. Patriotic music played in the hall, and a local high school dance group performed. In addition, a personal bodyguard from the secret service stood near the crumbs.

Of course, the kid will not rule the city alone. The city has a council that will deal with political issues. However, little Charlie had his own plans to improve the life of the city, which he told with the help of his dad.

I, William Charles Macmillan, swear that I will responsibly carry out my duties as mayor of the city and will try: to be kind to other children on the playground, to promote peace, adoption and a bright, clean agrarian life. I will also make sure that roads are laid and cookies are regularly delivered to the volunteer fire department. I promise to love, preserve and protect Whitehall society and catch the biggest catfish. And you will help me and my parents to do this!
