A Woman Regrets Not Wanting Her Father to Walk Her Down the Aisle Due to His Wheelchair and Changes Her Mind
When Lisa Terrell’s mother passed away when she was only two, her father, Edward, took care of her. Caroline Terrell had died in a devastating hurricane that struck their town years earlier, destroying their home and leaving Edward in a wheelchair due to a severe injury.
Despite this, nothing stopped Edward from raising Lisa with love and giving her the best life possible. A well-respected journalist, he began working remotely after his injury to support them.

Lisa’s Cruel Decision

“Dad, I wanted to talk to you about the wedding,” she began, staring at her plate and playing with her fork.
“Yes? What is it, sweetheart?” Edward asked. “Is something worrying you about the wedding? The expenses? If so, I have some savings that might help. After all, I saved them for you…”
“No, Dad! It’s just that…” Lisa hesitated for a moment. “Harrison and I are having the wedding in New York at one of the city’s most prestigious hotels, and… I thought it would be best if you didn’t attend. You know, there will be so many guests.”
Edward’s smile instantly faded. He looked at Lisa, confused. “I— I don’t understand… What’s the problem?”
Lisa sighed and finally looked him in the eye.
“Look, Dad, it’s just that… The guests are all high-profile businessmen and elite members of society. Imagine a man in a wheelchair walking his daughter down the aisle in front of them… I don’t know… It just seems strange.”
“A man in a wheelchair is strange?” Edward’s eyes welled with unshed tears. He couldn’t believe Lisa had indirectly removed him from the guest list. But he got the message. He forced a smile and swallowed his pain.
“You’re right,” he said, pretending to laugh. “After all, old age is catching up with me. Maybe I wouldn’t be able to handle such a big gathering. It’s fine—really, it’s fine!”
“Thank you for understanding, Dad,” Lisa replied coldly before leaving for her room.
Before delivering that devastating blow, she hadn’t thought about all the love and care he had given her over the years. But eventually, she would regret it.
A Shocking Revelation
A few days later, while watching a TV show called American Heroes, Lisa was stunned when the host mentioned her father’s name. Confused, she stared at the screen and saw her father sitting next to the host.
Soon, the camera zoomed in on an old video showing Edward in his wheelchair and footage of the hurricane that had devastated their town years ago.
It turned out that Edward was one of the brave journalists who had not only saved his own family but also helped his neighbors during the disaster. He had a solemn expression as he recounted how he had managed to rescue people, especially his daughter.
“I will never forget that day. It was terrible… We lost almost everything,” he explained. “My wife died in the disaster, and my daughter was only two years old. As debris fell all around us, I saw my daughter standing right there… right under where it was collapsing.”
“I ran to her and scooped her into my arms, but as I tried to escape, a massive part of the ceiling cracked and fell onto my back, injuring my spine and leaving me unable to walk.”
Lisa’s jaw dropped, and tears streamed down her face.
“Dad saved me?”
“It was difficult,” Edward continued. “But you know, you can’t run from your fate. So, I gathered my courage because I knew I couldn’t just give up—not when I had a daughter who depended entirely on me.”
At that moment, Lisa was overwhelmed with shame. She broke down in tears, cursing herself for being such a terrible daughter. She knew she had to make things right.
A Public Apology
On her wedding day, Lisa walked down the aisle beside Edward. But before the ceremony began, she had something VERY important to say to the guests.
Taking the microphone, she approached her father, who was seated among the guests, and knelt before him, hugging him tightly.
“I know this is one of the most important days of my life, and I’ve been looking forward to it for so long,” she said, holding her father’s hands. “But none of this would have been possible without my father by my side.”
“Since my mom passed away, I’ve never heard my dad complain once about how hard it was to raise me alone. He had tough days, but he never showed it. And what did I do? I nearly erased him from my wedding because I was embarrassed that he was in a wheelchair. Yes, it’s true!”
“If I had known that Dad was in a wheelchair because he injured his back saving my life, I would have never done what I did. I have been terrible to the man who loves me the most!”
“So today, in front of all of you, I want to apologize to him. I’m sorry for being the worst daughter to you, Dad,” she said, looking into his eyes. “You can hate me for the rest of your life. I’m so sorry.”
Edward hadn’t expected Lisa to publicly acknowledge her mistake. He was shocked, but at the same time, he was deeply moved to see his daughter realize her error, so he forgave her.
“Oh, come here,” he said, embracing her. “Everyone makes mistakes. But if you recognize them and work to fix them, you deserve forgiveness.”
The guests were touched, and a thunderous round of applause followed this heartfelt reunion.
