Building such a miracle was not easy. The teenager dug out an entire three-room cave with Wi-Fi and a living room

Andres Canto is a 20-year-old resident of the Spanish city of Alicante, who got very angry with his parents in 2015.

The guy was 14 years old, and to let off steam, he took his grandfather’s pickaxe and started digging in the garden.

According to Kanto, he doesn’t quite understand what he was thinking then.

My parents wanted me to put on a jacket and go to the countryside with them, but I wanted to put on a tracksuit to laze around in nature.

They said I couldn’t leave the house like that, and I said, ‘Don’t worry, I can entertain myself’, then I went to the back of the estate and started digging a hole.

But having cooled down after a quarrel, the guy did not stop his digging and continued to work day after day after school — for him it was a kind of meditation.

The pace of construction changed when a friend gave Andres a pneumatic drill, and the ordinary hole turned into a three-meter-deep cave project, which the friends dug together for 14 hours a week.

At first, the teenagers worked by hand, using buckets to haul the earth out of the pit. Eventually, Canto decided to explore other excavation methods and came up with the idea of using a system of pulleys (wheels with a groove).

Andres reinforced the roof of his cave by creating arched entrances and vaulted ceilings, and covering the walls with concrete to prevent collapse. The project cost the guy only 50 euros.

Now the cave has a bedroom and a living room, as well as a heating system, Wi-Fi distributed from a mobile phone and a music system.

Building such a miracle, assures Andres, was tiring because of the humidity and congestion inside the cave. And the excavations themselves were not without problems.

“As I am the first person in Spain to do something like this, when the Civil Guard arrived there was no specific report. It wasn’t a basement or a warehouse, it was just a well-built underground shack,” the guy said.

Meanwhile, Andres’ parents are content with their son’s underground hideout. The guy’s mom first reviewed the cave on video, only then went inside in person.
