Charlize Theron: The tragic childhood and hardest way of the actress

In 2004, Charlize Theron became the envy of every Hollywood actress. Then she won Best Actress at the 76th Academy Awards, writing her name in cinematic history with her horrific performance as a prostitute and serial killer Eileen Wuornos in Monster.

During the ceremony, the South African blonde turned to her mother Gerda and thanked her for the sacrifices she made to send her daughter to the United States. No one in the audience could even think how much the actress had experienced in her life: illness, insults, and even murder. The real story of Theron is tragic and deserves a separate film.

If you look at Charlize Theron, it seems that she has always been a beautiful swan. However, the actress until the age of 11 considered herself a monster.

“My early childhood was monstrous. I didn’t have teeth until I was 11,” Theron said. Charlize got such a smile thanks to jaundice. During the illness, doctors prescribed a huge amount of antibiotics, because of which all the teeth rotted. Dentists had to cut out milk teeth, and Charlize had to wait until her molars began to grow.

Her father was a drunkard. He was a cheerful father, laughed a lot and enjoyed life. But that was until the moment he picked up the bottle. Then a monster possessed Charles. He shouted at his wife and his daughter Charlize, insulting them. He was an alcoholic.

Theron slept in a friend’s basement to save money and study at a prestigious academy. She was 19 then. “I spent the winter in New York in my friend’s windowless basement apartment. I was broken by this. I was attending classes at the Joffrey Ballet at the time, but I got injured. And I had to give up my dancing career”.

But this time, my mother came to the rescue. She advised Charlize to move to Los Angeles and try her hand at acting.
The first months of life in La La Land were hard. The future actress was sorely lacking money, and because of the language barrier, Charlize could not find an agent.

Fateful for her was the meeting with the impresario of such celebrities as John Hurt and Rene Russo, John Crossby.

It happened at the bank. Mother transferred Charlize $500 to pay for housing. However, the bank teller refused to cash her a check drawn outside the country. Charlize could not stand it and began to scream loudly in all the expressions she knew in English and African.

After I stopped screaming, a stranger handed me his business card and told me to contact him. It was the talented manager John Crossby. He introduced me to many actors.
Soon, the actress got her first role in the film “Children of the Corn 3. Urban Harvest.” I never thought that I would be a particularly successful actress, she added. “I just wanted to earn a living.

These difficult days made the actress stronger. Now she is thankful to her mother, since only she was always next to her.
