Doctors were sure that mom would not be able to give birth: What happenes was a real magic

Like any woman, 22-year-old Sheree Psaila has always dreamed of becoming a mother. That’s just the majority of people who know a woman, believed that she could not, and should not give birth to children. Sheri has been born with a condition known as amyoplasia congenita, which makes a person’s muscles sluggish and passive. Most people born with this disease remain confined to a wheelchair for the rest of their lives.

When Sheri was born, doctors warned her parents that she would likely not live even a year. But mom and dad found funds, and the girl underwent several operations, after which the doctors said that the child would live, but would hardly get up from a wheelchair.

But Sheri decided otherwise. When she was five years old, she set herself the goal of learning to walk. Again and again she tried to get up, until finally she subdued her unruly muscles. The girl came to school already on her feet. She studied well and after graduation she entered a technical college.

There, Sheri met Chris, a young man who understood perfectly well what she had to go through. As a result of a hereditary disease, Chris had a damaged spine from birth. In 2015, young people got married.

Surely young people often heard from friends and relatives that they should not even try to become parents. They both suffered from serious illnesses from birth. What if the child is waiting for the same thing? But Sheri and Chris knew they wanted to have children. After all, they, like no one else, understood that strong legs or “normal appearance” are not a guarantee of happiness at all.

Sheri’s first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. Doctors were sure that the young woman would never be able to bear and give birth to a child. But Sheri again did not live up to expectations.

Her little son Hayden was born completely healthy, the doctors were relieved that the child had no signs of any genetic abnormalities. Sheri admits that it is very difficult for her to cope with the duties of a mother. She has very weak arm muscles, and she cannot even take her son in her arms on her own: “Sometimes when he cries, I have to call someone for help to put him in my arms”

But the happy dad of the baby is always there and happy to help. Many believe that Sheri and Chris made a mistake: they risked giving their child serious diseases and still risk passing them on to their grandchildren. But most observers do not know what it means to be a victim of a congenital disease; it seems to them that illness is a sentence that deprives a person of a chance for a happy life. For these young parents, every step is a struggle with their own body.
