Dying, she wanted to celebrate Christmas with her husband for the last time. Here’s what she was told a couple of hours later

The story of Katie and Dalton Prager is a bit like a fairy tale. Unfortunately, reality is far from being as generous with happy endings as the fiction of storytellers. Young lovers first met at the age of 18, and two years later they became a married couple.

Fate measured Katy and Dalton only five years together, but all the friends and acquaintances of the couple unanimously testify that these years have become a real paradise for them.

Since childhood, both the boy and the girl suffered from cystic fibrosis. This hereditary disease affects the lungs and has a very high mortality rate. Even at a young age, Cathy and Dalton knew they were doomed. They met through social networks.

A common misfortune brought the couple together. And when Katie and Dalton finally met live, they immediately understood that this was fate. After the first meeting, they tried to spend as much time with each other as possible. And by the age of 20, the lovers played a wedding.

Dalton and Kathy knew they didn’t have much time, so they tried to enjoy life as much as they could. The couple traveled extensively and met with friends. The lovers were blissful for four whole years.

But then clouds began to gather on the horizon … It is worth noting that both of our heroes had to undergo a lung transplant. In November 2014, doctors performed this operation on Dalton. Katie’s turn came up only in July 2015. At first, everything seemed to go off without a hitch. But a few months later, Dalton was diagnosed with cancer.

Katie’s health was also seriously shaken. The transplanted organs stubbornly refused to take root. In the end, it became clear that the young spouses had no further way.

Dalton and Kathy have always loved Christmas very much. Realizing that they are unlikely to live until winter, the lovers agreed to celebrate it in September. Unfortunately, even these plans were not destined to come true. Dalton was already preparing to leave the hospital, where he was under observation, to his wife, but on September 17 of this year, the guy died from complications of the disease.

A few days later, Kathy followed him. The couple communicated via the Internet until the very end. In the fall, Katie told her family that meeting Dalton gave both of them a whole world full of happiness and love. And when her husband died, the girl only said that she would see him again very soon.

Today, the Pragers are called the revived heroes of John Green’s novel The Fault in Our Stars. What a pity that the one who created their destinies in heaven did not give the young spouses a little more time! At the very least, relatives and close couples have no doubts that despite their short lives, Katie and Dalton found true love in each other.
