Mother of 16 children told how to prepare for Christmas

Janie Bonell lives with her family in Australia. On the continent they are called “The Biggest Family”. She and her husband have 16 children: 9 boys and 7 girls. Parents understand from their own experience how difficult it is to organize a holiday.

Today, a trend is gaining popularity among parents when they do not give gifts for the New Year or Christmas. Some refuse to decorate the house and celebrate. The Bonell family is not like that. They want to please all households and give each other unforgettable moments that will be remembered for a lifetime.

For this, they buy 11 kg of ham, 3 kg of turkey and chicken, 6 kg of shrimp. There should be 4 kg of salad on the festive table so that every household has enough. During the evening they drink 10 bottles of carbonated drink. As my mother says, to celebrate Christmas they spend from 3 to 5 thousand Australian dollars.

If you translate the amount into rubles, then the cost of the holiday is considerable from 130,000 to 216,500 rubles. The woman begins to prepare for Christmas in advance. She records the prices of products in different stores, and then compares to products at the lowest price.

Mom shares that she never saves on Christmas, but does not take loans. They create a holiday based on the means at their disposal.
Mom does not deprive children of gifts. She just buys them during the year so that it is not so noticeable for the family budget in December. For the older 9 children, she came up with the idea of playing “Secret Santa”. She writes down the names with the recipient of the gift, folds them up so that it is impossible to peep.

Then the children draw out a reconciliation and make a gift for the specified person. The advantage of this method is that children do not need to make gifts for each brother or sister. Also, it doesn’t need an even number of people.

She also shared a funny photo of the “Christmas tree” in their big family. Mom jokingly decorated a pile of laundry with tinsel.
