In the 11th grade, Svitlana got pregnant by her classmate Victor—back then, she believed it was the love of her life. However, upon learning about the pregnancy, Victor refused the child and spread gossip about the girl throughout the village. Svitlana and her parents faced judgment, but fortunately, her parents supported her and helped both her and the child.

Two years later, she decided to attend university, leaving her daughter with her parents as she moved to the city. Svitlana enrolled in the economics faculty and found a part-time job as a waitress to financially assist her parents. It was there that she met Orest—young, handsome, and well-off. Orest fell in love with Svitlana instantly and was willing to do anything for her. Romantic dates, sweet kisses, and Svitlana moved in with Orest.

From that moment on, they began planning their wedding. Svitlana, of course, told him about her daughter right away. Orest claimed it was not a problem, even providing money for the child’s clothes and toys. Over time, Svitlana started discussing moving her daughter in with them. To her surprise,
Orest didn’t like the idea. He firmly stated that he understood she loved her daughter, but he preferred the child to stay in the village. He argued that they didn’t need kids right now, and the child was accustomed to her grandparents, making her presence unnecessary. Svitlana was shocked and didn’t know what to say, as she loved Orest.
The last statement from Orest helped her make the right decision: “You have to understand that I’m not ready to raise someone else’s child. So make a choice—either me or Inna. I believe you’ll do the right thing, and we’ll continue living as before,” he confidently said.
Svitlana didn’t respond. However, the next day, when Orest returned home, neither Svitlana nor her belongings were there. Instead, there was a note: “I will always choose my child.”
