Parents of a one-year-old baby are looking for a donor family that gave a heart to their son

The parents of one-year-old Titus Sickles are looking for those who gave their son a chance at life. The boy was born with a heart defect, and without surgery, a sad outcome awaited him. On January 8, 2019, a picture of a baby appeared on the network with a touching appeal to people who donated their child’s heart for transplantation. Titus’ mom and dad hope that with the help of the Internet they will be able to find anonymous donors to support and thank them for their noble deed.

Due to a developmental anomaly, Titus’s heart only worked halfway: the left half of the organ was formed incorrectly. Doctors discovered that the boy had several other congenital heart defects that could not be corrected by surgery. The child was too weak to undergo surgery. The doctors put the boy on the waiting list for transplantation, but every day his condition worsened. Parents were afraid that the baby would not wait for the operation.

On April 7, 2018, the Sickles family was told good news for them: their baby will have a new heart. On the same day, at the Children’s Hospital of Seattle, a four-hour operation was performed to transplant a donor organ. The transplant helped the boy. Since then, his health has been fine, and Titus is completely no different from his peers. This is a happy baby with a charming smile and luxurious golden hair.

Titus’ parents admit that all this year they thought about the family that donated the heart of their baby. They wanted to support people, sympathize with their loss and thank them for the priceless gift. Since the donation is carried out on an anonymous basis, they could not directly contact the parents of the deceased baby. Therefore, on the first birthday of her son, Rena Sickles posted a photo of her son on Facebook with a caption on behalf of the baby:

“I’m Titus! I was born on January 8, 2028 with a severe heart disease. On April 7, 2018, in Seattle, I had a transplant that saved my life. I respect your feelings and understand if it hurts you to communicate with us. But I must thank my donor for this gift – my life. I am alive and well thanks to you”.

Rena added a caption to the photo, where she asked to share the post. In just a week, the woman’s message collected 700 reposts. Titus’ mom said that disseminating this information is very important because it helps people learn about the importance of organ transplants.
