Quadruplets were born instead of one child: How the family deals with 7 children

Gaby is 40 years old, and her husband Patrick who is 50 years old, were always planning to have the fourth child – and stop there. The couple already have a common son – two-year-old Sammy – and two children from previous marriages.

In December 2021, they learned that Gaby was pregnant. And at the 12th week, an ultrasound showed that she was carrying not one child, but four. The news shocked future parents: among natural pregnancies, this happens once in a million.

Doctors closely monitored Gabi’s condition throughout her pregnancy: in order to prevent a miscarriage, doctors installed a pessary for her. Gaby gave birth to four boys at 34 weeks. Now there are seven children in the family. And although the parents are very happy, such a large and abrupt addition has its drawbacks.

Both of them look like each other so much that their parents decided to paint their toenails in different colors to distinguish them from each other. “Bennett’s nails are green, Kobe’s are white,” Gabi said. “Adam and Dane have their own colors, but it’s easier to tell them apart, especially as they grow.”

Parents say they use 47 diapers every day, 1.5 packs of tissues, 32 bottles, and wash clothes three times.

“The appearance of quadruplets is a real challenge,” says the mother of seven children. “But we were so happy to bring them all home and hug them.”
