She became the first woman to give birth in this manner. Happiness has no limits

Malin Stenberg and Claes Nilsson from Gothenburg can rightfully call themselves the happiest couple in the world. After all, the birth of a child was a real miracle for them. Moreover, the word “miracle” is used here by no means for a red word.

Malin and Klas have been living together for many years and are madly in love with each other. But their love was overshadowed by one sad circumstance. The couple could not have children due to the fact that Malin suffers from Rokitansky-Kyustner syndrome. This is a congenital anomaly, as a result of which a girl is born without a uterus.

Previously, it was believed that women with such a diagnosis could not become mothers naturally. The only option for them was in vitro fertilization and the subsequent carrying of the child by a surrogate mother. But recently, women with a similar problem have a chance to become mothers themselves.

A team from the University of Gothenburg decided to conduct a bold experiment. They selected 9 women who did not have a uterus. Moreover, in some participants in the study, this organ was absent from birth, and in some it was removed due to cervical cancer. They all received transplants from the uterus of their relatives, who agreed to become donors. “This is a completely new kind of surgery.

There are simply no textbooks on how to perform this operation correctly! After all, the uterus has a very complex blood supply, so it is extremely difficult to maintain its working capacity during transplantation. We are opening a new page in medicine!” says Professor Brennström.

Malin received a womb transplant from her 60-year-old relative, Eva Rose. She has already given birth to two children and is now nursing four grandchildren. Without hesitation, Eva agreed to become a donor and donated her organ.

All nine surgeries were successful. However, doctors had serious concerns about the fact that women could get pregnant with donor organs. But a year later, Malin succeeded!

The pregnancy passed without serious complications. Although the birth took place somewhat prematurely, nothing threatened the life of the newborn. In order to protect Malin, the doctors decided to perform a cesarean section, and as a result, a charming boy was born.

The newborn was named Vincent. According to doctors, mother, and son are doing well.

Malin feels himself in seventh heaven with happiness. After all, before she did not even hope to give birth to her own child. And now, thanks to modern medicine, her wildest dreams have come true!
