Sophia Cora lost her sight at the age of 18. One day she woke up and noticed that her eyesight had become very poor. This happened in May, and already in August she was recognized as blind. The girl was diagnosed with keratoconus, a condition where the transparent, dome-shaped front surface of the eye becomes thinner and gradually bulges outward, taking the shape of a cone.
At first, Sofia thought it was an allergy attack, but the situation did not improve. When the girl found out that she was going blind, it was a big blow for her. For half a year she was depressed and constantly cried. But life went on, Sophia needed to study further — she studied psychology at Adams State University in Colorado. There she met Christian.
Sofia and Christian spent a lot of time together, they became best friends. The guy even found an operation that would help the girl regain her sight. Her insurance did not cover such expenses, so Christian opened a collection. In five weeks, they collected 19.3 thousand dollars for the necessary procedures.
In 2018, she underwent surgery, and in 2019 her eyesight was completely restored. During the operation and rehabilitation, Sofia went home, she and Christian had not seen each other for more than a year, but kept in touch. It was when they broke up that the girl realized that she loved her friend.
In October 2020, Sofia confessed her feelings to Christian. Then she first saw his appearance and was pleasantly surprised. Sophia’s feelings were mutual, later Christian admitted that he fell in love with her from the very beginning. They started dating and got married in June 2021.
They are now 25 years old, Sofia is a science teacher in New Mexico, and Christian is a systems engineer. The couple do not yet have children, they enjoy time with each other and are pursuing a career. Who knows if their relationship would have been so strong if not for Sofia’s vision problems.
