A man in Utah is now tasked with raising his children alone after the unfortunate death of their mother. Morgan Hughes, aged 22, passed away within nine days after the birth of her daughter Georgia and son Hudson.
She leaves behind her bereaved husband, Sam, 23, and their extended family. The Cedar Hills neighbourhood, with family and friends, is uniting to commemorate Morgan’s legacy and provide assistance to Sam as he adjusts to single parenthood. Shortly after giving delivery, Morgan began to experience illness and was readmitted to the hospital.
Tests indicated increased white blood cell levels, perhaps suggesting leukaemia. Regrettably, Morgan died on December 28, 2024, leaving Sam to raise their children alone. Her family is now dedicated to assisting him in the care of their twins. Justin and Kaden Hodson, Morgan’s brothers, spoke with ABC 4, recounting their recollections of their sister as an exceptionally devoted and kind person. They underscored the extent to which she would be missed, particularly by her family.
Upon discovering her expectation of twins, Morgan and her family were elated, especially Morgan, who was ecstatic about the revelation. The brothers-in-law conveyed their esteem for Sam, characterising him as a guy willing to do everything for Morgan and his family. They conveyed their assurance in his capability to rear the twins alone, with Kaden asserting, “Sam is the singular individual who can accomplish this.” Following Morgan’s death, the neighbourhood has united to help the family, adorning the street of Morgan’s upbringing with ribbons, alongside contributions of foods, flowers, and monetary support. The GoFundMe campaign established to assist Sam has collected over $300,000. Sarah Thorne, Morgan’s cousin, addressed the fundraising, reminiscing about Morgan as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and friend. She highlighted Morgan’s enthusiasm for motherhood and the enduring presence of her spirit in her children’s lives as they mature.
The family has conveyed their profound appreciation to the community for their support. Brian Hughes, a relative of Morgan, sent a poignant letter on Facebook, conveying the family’s grief over her passing while emphasising Morgan’s grace, generosity, and resilience. He expressed their confidence in a future reunion with her, reiterating their faith in Jesus Christ. A memorial ceremony for Morgan is scheduled for January 3.
