The little one can start combining syllables and uttering “mama,” “papa,” “dada,” etc.
Soon, due to your joyful reaction, they will understand that these words have a special meaning. By the age of one, your toddler may have two or three consciously spoken words in their vocabulary.
However, keep in mind that the speech of most toddlers at this age is somewhat unintelligible. At this age,
your toddler already understands speech very well—for example, the meaning of “time to sleep” or “let’s go to the park.”
Throughout this year, the toddler will become more receptive to your instructions and requests, and perhaps even start forming a few sentences of two or three words.
