18-year-old Briton Ebony Stevenson had no idea that she would soon become a mother. But one evening she became very ill, and she decided to go to bed early. The girl woke up already in the hospital, where she was told that she had given birth to a daughter. How did it happen, and is there a logical explanation for this amazing case?
Even in the final months of her pregnancy, Ebony didn’t know she was expecting a baby. Everything was revealed in one evening, when the girl began to be plagued by severe headaches. Ebony took a pill and went to bed, but soon her condition worsened dramatically. The girl began convulsive seizures, due to which she lost consciousness. Ebony’s mother called an ambulance for her daughter.
“The first thing the doctors asked was if my daughter was pregnant. I said no, but they said otherwise. And then I noticed that Ebony’s belly had grown! It happened in minutes, right in front of my eyes! It’s hard to convey how shocked I was,” recalls Sheri, Ebony’s mother.
As doctors later reported, the girl’s stomach “grew” due to severe convulsions. However, this was not the only (and not the main) reason why Ebony did not notice that she was pregnant until the last.
The girl was rushed to the clinic. She was diagnosed with a severe complication of pregnancy – preeclampsia, due to which she had severe convulsive seizures. The young patient lost consciousness, so it was decided to perform an emergency cesarean section on her.
The operation went well and a healthy baby girl was born. The baby weighed 3560 grams and was of “normal” height.
“I was scared and happy at the same time. She held this baby in her arms, and could not believe that she had become a grandmother, ”said 39-year-old Sheri.
However, the woman was very worried about her daughter, who was still in an artificial coma. Ebony came to her senses only 3 days after the birth, and the first thing she heard from the doctors was the phrase:
The young mother was given to hold the baby, but Ebony still did not realize what was happening.
“I asked: “Who is this girl? How can she be my daughter, this is a ridiculous mistake! But then my mother came and explained everything to me. Now I’m even ashamed that I didn’t immediately recognize my baby, ”recalls Ebony.
It turned out that the young mother had a very rare anomaly called uterus didelphys. That is, the girl had 2 uterus, the first of which was located normally, and the second – deep in the body. The baby developed in the second uterus, while the first continued to menstruate. That’s why Ebony never noticed her pregnancy.
Now with a young mother and her daughter, everything is in order. Ebony still needs to get used to the new role, but she feels incredibly happy.
