The student looks like a princess, but in reality he is a superhero. His superpower is in his hair, and Rapunzel can’t do that.

Rapunzel is nervously jealous on the sidelines when she sees a long-haired schoolboy from England. The boy grew his hair for 8 of his 12 years, until he decided to part with it. The reason for the act breaks the heart.

A Berkshire boy, Bertie Pilkington, at the age of 12, hardly walks calmly through the streets of the city and the corridors of the school. The eyes of passers-by, classmates and acquaintances of the child are always fixed on his hair.

Bertie hasn’t cut his blond hair for eight years. According to the mother, the last time her son heard the sound of a trimmer was when he was four years old. Since then, the boy decided that he would let go of the curls in order to donate them to charity in the future.

When I was old enough to start getting a haircut at the barbershop, I didn’t do it,” the student recalls.

Bertie’s decision was inspired by a television program about children with cancer – the boy saw her when he was very young. The report was dedicated to a girl who, due to long-term treatment and the consequences of chemotherapy, lost her hair.

Her story made the child look at the world differently.

She talked about what she had to go through because of cancer and what it was like to live without hair, the boy shared.

Even the mother could not stop the child on the way to the goal. It wasn’t until Bertie’s hair was below his waist that he realized it was time for a haircut.

The boy even chose a specific date for an important event for him – May 13, 2021. On this day, Bertie will say goodbye to her curls, which will soon fulfill the dreams of children in need. From the hair of a young Briton, the Little Princess Trust, an organization helping sick children and adolescents, will create natural wigs.

You know, it’s kind of a payback for those lucky enough not to get cancer,” Bertie explained.
