The story of this couple began like a fairy tale. In 2007, Erica Morales met Carlos. They fell in love at first sight, despite the fact that she didn’t know a word of Spanish and he didn’t speak English. A little later, the couple decides to seal their union with the sacred bonds of marriage, dreaming of becoming parents as soon as possible. But everything is not so simple.
Erica has endured more than one miscarriage, the pain, suffering and disappointment that accompanies unsuccessful attempts to conceive. However, without losing hope, the couple finally achieves success. At the very first ultrasound, Erica and Carlos receive stunning news: in the womb of the expectant mother, not one, but four whole hearts are beating! It is difficult to describe in words how they thanked God for this gift.
Arriving home, enthusiastic parents immediately began to pick up names for the kids. They decided to name the boy Carlos, in honor of his father, and two girls – Paisley and Trace. The name of the last baby did not come to mind. The couple decided to pick him up after the birth.
Erica’s first contractions began after seven months of pregnancy. Excited, almost in a panic, she wrote a message to her husband, after which Carlos, leaving everything, rushed to the hospital. While the doctors performed a caesarean section, the happy father patiently waited in the corridor for the birth of his four babies. The operation was successfully completed, and the doctors allowed Carlos to go to the ward to his beloved.
Seeing his wife, he firmly but gently squeezed her hand, silently thanking for the miracle that happened to them. The exhausted woman gradually woke up from anesthesia. But suddenly everything went wrong.
The instruments screeched like crazy, forcing the doctors and nurses to rush into the room. Carlos was asked to pick up the kids and leave immediately.
Erica died from blood loss. One by one, the doctors explained something to Carlos, but he, deafened by pain, could not hear anything. “How? She just smiled at me, and now she is dead … She was just alive, but now she is gone, ”Carlos later recalled. This moment was to be the happiest of their lives.
But, unfortunately, fate disposes of lives, never being interested in our opinion.
For the sake of his wife and four children, Carlos decides not to despair and never give up. “The kids will be bilingual and going to college,” he writes in his farewell message to Erica. The young father names his three children exactly as he and his wife planned: Carlos, Paisley and Trace.
The name for the fourth girl, which a few months ago the parents could not come up with, now picked up by itself. Erika. In honor of the mother. An incredible story of pure love. For these four kids, Carlos will forever remain the only parent. But their mother, who gave her life for them, the children will never forget.
