Remaya Hernandez, 5, lives with her parents in Florida, USA. Usually the girl walks near the house, and her parents did not expect that she could be threatened in the familiar courtyards. What happened to her is every mother’s nightmare. Remaya was riding a bike when she was attacked by a neighbor’s dog.
Hearing her daughter’s scream, the girl’s mother rushed to help. She was horrified to see that a huge dog grabbed the baby right in the face.
But even before the woman could run up to her daughter, their own dog – a pit bull named Trigger – jumped over the fence and rushed to the aid of his little mistress.
In a fight, he so badly injured the attacking dog that later the owners had to euthanize her. Lusila, the girl’s mother, does not even allow doubts that their dog is a real hero: “We taught him to always protect his owners, take care of us.” If not for Trigger, she might not have been able to save her daughter.
Remaya is also grateful to her four-legged friend who may have saved her from death. The girl could not come to her senses for a long time, at night she was tormented by nightmares in which she again saw huge jaws near her face. As soon as the opportunity arose, the parents took the girl to a plastic surgeon.
They didn’t want the scars on their face to remind their daughter of a nightmare. Most people who have ever been attacked by dogs fear and dislike them for the rest of their lives. But Remaya will always remember that it was the dog who saved her life. Animals are just like people, the girl is sure. There are good ones and bad ones. Yet most dogs are incredibly kind and loyal creatures.
