There is an incredible park in Taiwan where giant water lilies grow. Many tourists visit the park each year to admire this natural wonder. These water lilies are the largest in the world, with leaves so enormous that a person can stand on them. The leaves can support a considerable amount of weight due to their branched structure. Victoria Amazonica is internationally renowned for its exceptionally large leaves, but its flowers are also quite remarkable. The lily’s blossoms are rare.

The beauty of this water lily blooms only once a year and lasts for two to three days. The flowers have a strong fragrance and only float on the water at night. The giant lily’s flowers are also exceptionally large and have the amazing ability to change color. On the first day, the lilies are white, then they turn pink, and towards the end of their blooming period, they acquire a purple hue.

Today, Victoria Amazonica is one of the most popular greenhouse plants. The Taiwanese park hosts an annual festival dedicated to these lilies, during which everyone can take pictures on the gigantic leaves. To protect the leaves, a plastic palette is placed on top of them, allowing people to stand on it.

This beautiful plant has inspired many artists and writers. Scientists unequivocally state that the leaves of Victoria Amazonica are a true marvel of natural engineering. It’s no wonder that the leaf’s vascular system (visible on its underside) served as an inspiration for London’s Crystal Palace.

The Amazon water lily is recognized as one of the most beautiful aquatic plants and rightfully considered the jewel of the world’s best greenhouses.
