A controlling woman kicks her daughter-in-law out of the house along with her newborn son, only to meet years later under unfortunate circumstances.
Abby and Jonathan had been married for three years when they welcomed their son, Thomas. They lived with Jonathan’s mother, Mrs. Norma, who wasn’t the worst person, but neither the best.
Mrs. Norma’s problem was that she wanted to have total control over everything, especially Jonathan’s life. Luckily for her, she always succeeded because Jonathan was a “mama’s boy” who never contradicted her.

However, things started to change when Abby entered Jonathan’s life. He began paying more attention to his partner, which made Mrs. Norma think Abby was pulling him away from her.
Eventually, Abby felt that Mrs. Norma despised her, so she advised Jonathan that they should move out. But he politely refused, saying, “Oh honey, come on! You know how mom is! She may seem tough on the outside, but she’s gentle on the inside. She adores you as much as me.”
But Abby knew this was not true, and her worst fears came true one day…
“GET OUT OF MY HOUSE WITH THAT BABY!” Mrs. Norma shouted at Abby when she and Jonathan returned from the hospital after Thomas was born. She hadn’t even gone to the hospital for Abby’s delivery because she despised her. Once her daughter-in-law was home, she came up with a brilliant plan to get rid of her.

“Mrs. Norma, what’s wrong?” Abby stared at her, confused. She didn’t understand why the woman was saying such things.
“What’s wrong with me?” she snapped. “That child is not my son’s! He doesn’t look anything like my Jonathan!” she lied, shouting at the top of her lungs.
“Mrs. Norma!” Abby protested with teary eyes. “How can you say something like that? He’s your grandson… Jonathan,” she said, turning to her husband. “Why don’t you say anything? You know he is…”
Before Abby could finish, Mrs. Norma cut her off. “Stop bewitching my son with those crocodile tears! You’ve already destroyed his life. Pack your things and leave!” she repeated, grabbing Jonathan’s arm and pulling him.

“Jonathan…” Abby looked at him incredulously, hoping he would react. But he didn’t say a word. Instead, he stood by his mother’s side and lowered his head in shame.
Abby couldn’t believe Jonathan didn’t confront his mother and was willing to lose his son.
She realized that what was happening to her was probably the worst thing she had faced, but then thought it was probably best to get away from that toxicity. So she packed her belongings and left Mrs. Norma’s house to live with her own parents.
Several years passed, and Abby raised Thomas on her own. Fortunately, she also healed from the pain of her toxic relationship with Jonathan and filed for divorce.

A few years later, she found love again when she met a man named Edward at Thomas’s school. He was a widower and had a daughter, Carolina. Edward and Abby fell in love and got married.
Abby felt her life was complete after finding Edward. She had a wonderful family, a great job, two beautiful children, and a devoted husband. She never thought about her horrible marriage to Jonathan again until one day something unexpected happened.
After dropping Carolina and Thomas off at school, Abby was heading to work when she saw an elderly woman searching for food in a dumpster.
“Oh my God!” she sighed, stopping to look at the woman. “What could have happened to her that she has to eat from a dumpster?”
Abby searched her purse for money and got out of the car to offer it to the woman. But as she approached, something she saw made her stop.
She recognized the homeless woman’s coat and immediately stopped in the middle of the street until a car honked, interrupting her thoughts. When the woman turned to look at her, Abby’s suspicions were confirmed.
“Good heavens! Mrs. Norma?” she whispered in disbelief upon seeing her ex-mother-in-law in such terrible condition. “Mrs. Norma, what has happened to you? What are you doing here?” she asked worriedly as she ran toward her.

With tears in her eyes, the woman looked at her intently. “Abby? Forgive me for what I did, dear,” she pleaded, breaking down in tears. “Please forgive me! I’m starving. I haven’t eaten in days.” She fell at Abby’s feet and kept crying.

Abby had never liked Mrs. Norma, but she wasn’t cruel enough to leave her in the street in that state. So she took a day off work and took her to a restaurant.
While Mrs. Norma finished eating, Abby kindly asked her, “Mrs. Norma, how did you end up like this? Where is Jonathan?”
“All I can say is that I paid for my sins, dear,” she sighed, with teary eyes. “I lost everything I had. My Jonathan is no longer with me. He left me alone, and I felt so miserable after that.”
Mrs. Norma couldn’t stop crying as she revealed that Jonathan was coming home from work one day when he was attacked and robbed by vandals. He tried to defend himself but eventually succumbed to his injuries and died before reaching the hospital.
After the terrible incident, Mrs. Norma nearly lost her mind. Every night, she sat for hours by her son’s bed, holding his things and crying. She didn’t want to do anything or relate to anyone. Eventually, she gave up on her life and started wandering the streets.
“I still have the house, but it’s so empty without him. When I go back there, it breaks my heart. I don’t want to be there. I want to run away from all the bad memories… All the bad things I did to you, oh, I regret them so much. Will you forgive me, please? I beg you,” she pleaded, trembling.
Seeing Mrs. Norma’s terrible situation, Abby knew the woman had already paid for her wrongdoings, so she decided to let go of the past and forgive her.
“That’s okay, Mrs. Norma,” she said. “I hold nothing against you or Jonathan. In fact, I’m glad I moved on with my life because now I have a husband and two wonderful children.”
