Last summer, Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey’s eldest son, Levi, turned 15, and the star dad finally allowed his heir to use social media. The young man created an account on a popular app, which is blocked in Russia, but before that, the caring father had a clarifying conversation with him.

The 53-year-old actor considered it his duty to warn the teenager about the dangers of social media and how to use the internet correctly. In a recent TV interview, the star parent shared details of this educational conversation.
“Let’s talk about what it is. Let’s talk about the pros and cons. Let’s talk about assets. Let’s talk about traps,” McConaughey recalled his conversation with his son on the Today show.

“Let’s talk about what you want to say. Because often, with young people on social media, they wake up in the morning and the first thing they think about is what post to make, not what they would like to achieve today.”

McConaughey added that he and his wife closely monitor what their son posts on social media and whether he understood their parental guidance.

“We worry, we measure, we discuss things. We asked him to look at other people he looks up to, their posts,” McConaughey continued. “We discussed why he likes them. Why do some people have more popularity? Are they relevant because they are themselves or because they act like someone else?”
