Athletes attract spectators not only in stadiums and ice arenas but also gather audiences in front of television screens.
It’s no secret to anyone that figure skating becomes the most popular sport during the intense competitions of the Winter Olympic Games. It’s not surprising since it’s the most relatable and easily observable sport for us.
Although we may never understand the intricacies of the elements for which judges lower or raise scores, aesthetically, every viewer can appreciate the beauty of any routine. Figure skating allows us to enjoy the graceful lines of athletes, marvel at their talents, and incredible abilities.
Undoubtedly, in other sports, we can also witness complex and incomprehensible elements. But keeping track of them is not as interesting, as athletes’ performances often consist of short exercises that need to be completed sometimes in less than a minute.
Other sports are less spectacular for the average person, and therefore, not as popular. However, every sport finds its audience in one way or another.
