When Tomás, the owner of a restaurant, realizes that a young dishwasher frequents the locker room, he suspects that she has robbed him. He embarrasses her in front of everyone and then regrets it.
Tomás was a wealthy widower of about 50 years old who considered himself intelligent and charming. He despised those who called him “bald” and “belly” behind him.

For Tomás, age was just a number, and that did not prevent him from releasing his phrases to flirt and direct his gaze to the women, including the waitresses and dishwashers who worked in his restaurant. Among them was Giselle, 20 years old.
Giselle was new to the restaurant. I had been working as a dishwasher for a month. The lady had recently lost her husband, Marcos. After the tragedy, he began to have financial problems and found a sign of “We are hiring” outside Tomás’ restaurant. He applied as a dishwasher and immediately got to work.

His colleagues warned him of his boss’s attitude towards the female staff. “That man likes to flirt and has even invited some of them on dates. She believes that money can buy everything,” said one of them.
Giselle was focused on keeping her job at any cost. “I know my limits,” he said confidently.
But one day, she witnessed what her colleagues had told her.

“Do you have any idea why I hired you, Miss Giselle?” Tomás, who had blocked her way when she was leaving at the end of her shift, said. He took a red rose from a nearby table.
“No, sir. Please excuse me. I have to get home soon.”
“Don’t call me sir. Call me Tom.”
Giselle felt helpless and trapped because she was the last to leave the restaurant. I had a lot of dishes to wash that day.
“It’s getting late… I have to go, sir.”

But Tomás did not give in. “I was blinded by her beauty the first day I saw her,” he said. “We can go to a resort, have many drinks and buy everything you want. What do you think?”
Annoyed, Giselle gently pushed Tomás out of her way and left furiously, saying, “I’m here to work, sir. I’m not here for anything other than my job. And I respect my workplace. Thank you, but I’m not the guy you’re looking for. Good morning, sir.”

Tomás was furious. His ego hurt. “After all, she is an ORDINARY dishwasher… How dare she reject my offer? Wait for me to show you what I’m capable of.”
The days passed, but Tomás had not overcome what had happened. He was not willing to accept defeat or rejection. He was still looking for a way to humiliate Giselle.
One day, he saw her arrive at work with a bag. An evil plan arose in Tomás’ mind and during the following days he made sure that Giselle carried that bag every day to work.

He often checked how Giselle was and saw her frequenting the locker room during her shift. His suspicions were brewing and he waited until the afternoon, when the dining room was occupied, to pounce on her.
“Have a good day! I have to go to the market. I’ve taken half a day off,” Giselle told her friends.
Just when she was about to walk out the door, Tomás called her loudly: “Wait there, Miss Giselle! What’s in that bag? Has he been stealing the leftovers and the dishwasher? She’s fired.”
Giselle was startled. He turned around and began to sweat with fear. The customers stared at her and began to whisper things. His co-workers gathered behind Tomás and were equally surprised.
“I know he’s been stealing from me. I have seen him frequent the locker room at least three times during his shift. Come here, give me your bag. Let me see what’s inside.”

Giselle got scared. I wanted to step back and run. “There’s nothing, sir. I only have my lunch box and change of clothes.”
But Tomás rushed to her and snatched the bag from her hand. To his surprise, it was heavier than he imagined.

Some curious guests and the staff crowded around Giselle and Tomás when he put the blanket on a table. “Oh, my God! What is this?” he exclaimed when he opened the bag and saw that something was moving inside.
Inside the blanket there was a baby looking at Tomás with big brown eyes. This one was stunned.
“Sir, I can explain,” said Giselle…
“My husband died a few months ago when I was pregnant. After my baby arrived, I couldn’t find a job, and I didn’t have anyone to take care of her when I joined here. I couldn’t leave it alone at home, so I hid it in my bag and took it to work. I frequented the staff room to feed him and make sure he didn’t make any noise. I was just protecting my baby. I’m not a thief.”

Tomás was moved when his employee’s baby reminded him of a child he had lost a long time ago. That day, he cried in front of everyone, exposing a side of him that no one knew. Tomás immediately apologized to Giselle.
“I’m sorry, Miss Giselle. I lost my wife and son in an accident many years ago. Then I was single because I was afraid of losing my loved ones again. I never found true love after that. My loneliness turned me into a monster. I’m not bad at heart, but I lived with the assumption that money could buy anything, even love. I was wrong.”
Giselle’s eyes filled with tears after knowing Tomás’ story. “Sir, I’m sorry for what happened after losing your family. I’m glad he realized his mistake, at least now.”
Tomás gave the baby to Giselle. “You can go back to work after a month. I’m going to give you paid leave so you can spend time with your son.”

Giselle smiled and left the restaurant with her baby.
Tomás had decided to double Giselle’s salary once she returned to work to help him hire a nanny to take care of her son while she was off work. But did he stop flirting after that?
It is not surprising that old habits are not lost, and so it was in the case of Tomás! Although he stopped flirting with his employees, he did not stop flirting with other random women. Only time will tell if Tomás will find love again. But everyone, including Giselle, is glad that she has realized that money is not everything.
