If you see a rubber band on your door, you should know that it could mean something terrible.

If you notice a rubber band on your door, it’s crucial to understand that this could signal something sinister. Under no circumstances should you open the door or step outside. Here’s what could potentially happen.

Home security is typically taken very seriously by individuals. Many people choose to get dogs, confident that these animals will serve as both a warning system and a form of protection.

Others opt for installing security cameras around their properties in the hope of deterring potential intruders or documenting any incidents should they occur. However, clever criminals are always a step ahead, devising new tactics.

A woman learned this firsthand a few months ago when she encountered a suspected burglary attempt at her residence.

“Two weeks ago,” she recounted, “someone knocked violently on my door during the day. It wasn’t a typical knock; it was extremely loud. Frankly, I thought something terrible had happened to someone and that they needed help, but something felt off.”

Her instincts prompted her not to open the door, especially since she was home alone.

“After several knocks, they eventually left. I looked through the stained glass door and saw it was a man. About thirty minutes later, I stepped outside to investigate what had happened and discovered a rubber band attached to my doorknob. It had been used to keep the door ajar while I unlocked the deadbolt. This person was waiting for the precise moment I would unlock the door to force their way inside.”

Shockingly, this woman nearly fell victim to a trick employed by criminals to gain entry into homes. She added, “As soon as you unlock the door, they won’t wait

for you to turn the handle; they can rush right in. In any case, be cautious. I used to be a trusting person, but not anymore!”
