Woman kicks poor elderly man out of 5-star hotel, gives him a free presidential suite the next day – Story of the Day

A poor elderly man was kicked out of a five-star hotel after complaints from other guests about his smell. The next day, he was given a complimentary stay in the presidential suite.

An old man named Jeremías decided to travel to another city to meet his daughter at a luxury hotel. He had taken a long trip by land because he couldn’t afford a plane ticket after spending his money on lodging.

He didn’t choose just any hotel. It was one of the most luxurious in the city, where diplomats, celebrities, and other influential people usually stayed.

While waiting seated in the lobby, the man stood out. Both guests and staff gave him looks as if asking what he was doing at the hotel. Some even went to the front desk to complain about the old man’s presence.

“Have they lowered their security standards? How can they let someone like that in here?” a man asked.
“The hotel lobby usually smells divine, but today it smells like a garbage dump,” added his wife.

The receptionist decided to approach Jeremías to ask him to leave after hearing the hotel guests’ complaints.

“Sir, you are distracting our guests. Could you please leave the hotel premises and wait somewhere else?” she asked him.
“No, I have to wait right here. I have a meeting with my daughter,” the old man replied.

“I’m sure your daughter won’t mind if you wait somewhere else. You must leave immediately, or I will ask security to escort you out,” the receptionist said again, growing more impatient.
“I’m waiting for my daughter. She works here,” Jeremías responded, desperate for the receptionist to listen.

The woman scoffed, shaking her head. “Sir, we’ve heard stories like that many times. Please don’t make up something so absurd. What’s your daughter’s name?” she asked.

When the old man answered, her eyes widened. Jeremías had insisted he was at the hotel because of the director, Samanta Jiménez.

The man also argued that he had a room reserved under his name. He tried to provide proof, showing a photo album and a reservation receipt, but the security guards were already escorting him out of the hotel premises.

“If only they would listen to me, I have every right to be in this hotel just like everyone else!” the old man shouted. However, the security officers had already taken him out and warned him not to return or they would call the police.

The old man lost all hope and cried. All he wanted was to see his daughter, but the cruel staff decided to throw him out.

That same night, Samanta Jiménez arrived at the hotel. The receptionist told her that a man had tried to wait for her, claiming to be her father.

The director then recalled all the times she had asked her late mother about her father, hoping that one day she would introduce him to her.

“Could it be him?” she wondered to herself.

“Where did the man go?” Samanta asked. Although she wasn’t sure if the man was telling the truth, she knew she wouldn’t be able to sleep that night without knowing for certain if he was her father or not.

“We had to kick him out because other hotel guests complained about his smell. The security guards might have an idea of where he went,” the receptionist told her.

Samanta searched all night with the help of the security staff. “He was wearing a black shirt and a purple raincoat,” the head of security told her.

With that description, the woman drove her car through the city streets, hoping to find the man who claimed to be her father.
As the sun was about to rise, they found an elderly man wearing a black shirt and a purple raincoat lying on a bench. He was awake but seemed lost in thought.
A female voice interrupted his musings. “Excuse me, sir,” said the woman. “It’s cold outside. Please, get in the car.”

Surprised, Jeremías looked at the woman, only to realize it was Samanta.
“Is that you, my dear daughter? I’m sorry, I tried to wait at your hotel, but they kicked me out. I don’t have a phone, so I walked around the area and ended up here.”
“Let’s go back to the hotel first. You must be hungry,” Samanta said as soon as Jeremías got into her car. The old man decided to show his daughter some papers when they settled in at the lobby café.

“My name is Jeremías Hernández. Your mother and I were together for ten years until you were about six months old. At that time, I was offered a job in another country to work for a flour mill company.”
“The pay was good, so I decided to take the job,” he explained, showing a photo of himself with Samanta’s mother.
“While I was there, I got blinded by that life. I told your mother I wouldn’t come back and that we should get divorced,” Jeremías told his daughter. “It was the worst mistake of my life.”
“When the flour mill company I worked for closed a couple of years ago, I contacted your mother. I asked if it was too late to start over, and she said yes.”
“I asked if I could see you, and she simply answered that we would meet again at the right time,” the man said while his daughter listened attentively.
“Before your mother died a month ago, she wrote me a letter. She knew where to find me, and I received the message. She told me you were a successful businesswoman who ran one of the best hotels in this city.”

“I felt very proud,” Jeremías told the woman while handing her a small photo album.
As Samanta flipped through the album, she saw pictures of herself — the same ones she had in her album at home. This time, it was her turn to speak.
“I always asked mom where my dad was, but she never could answer me. I assumed you were dead,” she revealed.
“I had always longed to meet you, but I thought it was a lost cause because mom didn’t like to talk about you. I didn’t know she had contacted you before she died,” Samanta said, tears in her eyes. “She did listen to me after all.”
“I’m happy to see you, Samanta. I don’t expect you to forgive me for leaving you, but I came to wish you a happy birthday. Last night I booked a room here, but they didn’t even look at the reservation form I was trying to show them when they kicked me out.”
“Maybe we can celebrate together next time,” Jeremías said, holding his daughter’s hand.

Samanta shook her head. “I forgive you, Dad. You had your reasons back then. I would love to get to know you and spend more time with you,” she said, squeezing her father’s hand.
After talking a little longer, the woman and her dad walked toward the reception area. There, she scolded the receptionist for having kicked her father out. “We are an inclusive hotel! We don’t discriminate against guests based on their appearance,” she said.
The woman apologized profusely after realizing she had been wrong. She apologized because the man had been denied his hotel reservation, which forced him to sleep on the streets.
To make up for her mistake, she reissued his room reservation and gave him a courtesy upgrade to the presidential suite. That weekend, Samanta and Jeremías celebrated their birthdays together.
They walked around the city, ate at delicious restaurants, and stayed together in the presidential suite, where they slowly built their relationship.
In the end, Samanta discovered that Jeremías lived alone, so she offered to host him to take care of him. His move marked the beginning of a beautiful father-daughter relationship.

What can we learn from this story?
• Don’t judge people by their appearance. People quickly assumed Jeremías didn’t belong at the hotel because he wasn’t dressed like the other guests. In the end, they were surprised to discover he was a VIP guest who should have been treated well from the start.
• It’s never too late to start over. Samanta chose to build a relationship with her father even after he had left her when she was a baby. This allowed them to get to know each other and make the most of their time together.
